My husband, Darryl, and I have two boys that keep us pretty busy with their sports. I am lucky enough to be able to spend time volunteering with their sports clubs and school functions. I am passionate about my family, my health and even pride myself in completing a half marathon.

My favourite place in the world is a little game reserve in South Africa called Pilansberg – I love the open space and the smell of the African bush veldt. This, my friends and family, is what I miss most from Africa. However since moving to New Zealand, I have found many more beautiful places. I love to recharge my batteries by catching up with friends, exploring New Zealand, beach walks, gardening in the sunshine or just snuggling with a great book.

One of the craziest things I have ever done is probably immigrate to New Zealand without even visiting the country first. It was the greatest blessing and best move we could have made for our young family. I have also backpacked around Europe and had some wild adventures in my youth.

The most important lesson I have learned this year is to seize the day. Spend the time, make the phone call, let your loved ones know how you feel about them.
